iToe Fat Cakes

The last episode of Season 5 is called iToe Fat Cakes.  At first I thought...Toe???  what?  But it will become clear shortly.

Synopsis:
Sam has been trouble free for 10 days and as her reward she gets a golden ticket to visit the Canadian Fat Cake factory in Vancouver.  We learn that Canadian Fat Cakes are way better than American ones and are illegal in the states.  Spencer, Gibby, Freddie and Sam head to the factory where Sam gets a tour and enjoys eating a Canadian Fat Cake.  On their way back across into the states Sam gets caught trying to smuggle fat cakes in.  THEN when she is let go she doesn't have a passport or any i.d. to get back into the states.  She answers the skill testing question wrong too.  Gibby hides her in his luggage but the luggage gets mixed up and Sam ends up on a plane to Malaysia.

Subplot:  Carly has a hot date with Lance and she takes a bath to prepare.  Watching tv she sees Mary Tyler Moore get her toe stuck in a faucet on the Dick Van Dyke show.  She proceeds to say that's not possible and try it herself, getting her toe stuck in the faucet.  First she tries to get her pear phone to call for help and ends up dropping it in the bathtub.  Then she bangs on the pipes til Mrs. Benson comes to her rescue.  Lance also shows up.  In the end a guy saws the faucet while Carly shares a kiss with Lance.

Mini plot:  Gibby is not happy with being recognized for his iCarly spots and keeps getting asked to have his picture taken.

Awesomeness:
What is more awesome than having CANADA be the home of the awesome fat cake!!!  I love that our fat cakes are illegal, it makes us look bad ass.
Spencer yells about the US government being very strict and not allowing them to eat Canadian fat cakes.
Sam's whole scene in the factory..."Mama's home", "it's like eating a fat angel", beating Gibby down for trying to eat a fat cake, licking it, and eating an entire fat bag!  HA!
Freddie mentioning after the tour guide gets mad:  "an angry Canadian, you don't see that every day."
Then Sam at the boarder when she is caught with the fat cakes replies with a prolonged "WHAAAAT?!"...hilarious.  She calls the boarder guy a wazz bag and she also tells him that she was going to eat the cakes and we all know what would happen after they passed her stomach!
Gibby being irrate about his fame takes a hilarious turn when a little kid rips off his shirt and says "Gibby" and asks Gibby why he doesn't do that much anymore...kids love it!

Carly also was hilarious!  Watching TV she mocks a few fun things, including her own appearance on Drake and Josh which appears on the tv.  I love when she drops her phone in the water and says "well, there's no app for that!".  She also screams that she has a hot date coming in 30 minutes and she's wrinkled like an old raisin.  She made me laugh!!!

Oh and just for fact checking the two photos they show of "Canada" are one of the Vancouver Waterfront and then a random parliament shot from Ottawa.  I know this because the flag outside the building is Ontario's flag.

Also when people cross the border into the states from B.C. to Washington you don't have to walk through to get checked, you can drive your car through.  However, I know for comedy sake there is no way they would have achieved this storyline if they crossed the border like real people do.  You do have to declare stuff...but they don't make you walk through.

I have NOTHING i'd fix...the show was a 5 out of 5!!!  One of my faves and the hot guy was actually HOT!  yeah!!!

PS:  Jennette says fat cakes taste dry and are not that great.  But as an actress she sells them well!

iMeet the First Lady

I am editing my post after watching this episode again:  And now on to Episode 9.  This got a lot of hype and promotion because it includes the First Lady!  Yes Michelle Obama makes her acting debut.

Synopsis
Colonel Shay is due home for his birthday and the gang is super excited!  They put together a surprise party.  Then word comes that he is not coming home and Carly gets super bummed.  Freddie hooks the iCarly webcast up to talk to Carly's dad and they are able to talk to him over the internet during a web show.  This cheers Carly up!  Then the secret service contacts them and they think they are in trouble for tapping into a secure government channel.  But it's really Michelle Obama who wants to come and meet them because she likes all they do to cheer Carly up.  She is proud of her dad for serving and all the families who have members away serving the US.  She gets invited to do an iCarly webisode and that's pretty much it!

Running gag:  Spencer blows up the birthday cake twice.

Awesomeness
I love how this highlights Spencer and Carly's relationship.  Spencer has to break the news to Carly and it's very sweet.  Although she thinks he's going to giver her "the talk" about sex...which she usually avoids.
Spencer calls Sam and Freddie weinies for running away!
Sam disguising herself so the secret service doesn't recognize her.
The wig she gives to FREDDIE!
The game Michelle Obama plays that has Gibby in it is hilarious.  And she's a really good actress!  I liked all her scenes.  I enjoyed "Let's Do THIS!"
Also Dan (the creator) shows up as the secret service guy who tells Mrs. O that she can't talk about the robot she is building (which is hilarious).  Then he dances and runs spaz like off the set.  Which I loved!

Things I'd Fix:  MYSELF BECAUSE:

I'm taking back my previous American comments.....I really liked this episode because even thought it was patriotic..which I usually can't stand (being a Canadian).  I really liked the message of it!  Supporting the troops and their families.  As a patriotic Canadian I guess I need to start allowing it to be okay for the Americans to also wave their flag.  During the 2010 Olympics I cried when the opening ceremonies played because I was so proud it was happening in Vancouver!  Well I cried twice during this episode.  Once when Carly was telling her Dad how much she missed and loved him and second when they cheered for the troops and families.  Yeah...tears came.  I realized what a pie hole I was being about the whole flag waving issue.   I get it Americans...I do.  I also feel pride in my country and should be allowed to let it wave.  But being a Canadian we aren't really expected to do that.  Well I think I'm going to try harder to let my flag wave!

Although I must admit in Canada our "first lady" is not really high up or anything.  I guess she does stuff but we don't often hear about it.  Our royals are in England.  They are much more high profile then our government leaders.  So it's a little different.  Anyway, I have to say thanks for teaching me to stop being so jaded by American patriotism.

Yup..I'm Canadian.  I apologize, say eh sometimes and really like how peaceful my country is.

iBloop 2 - Electric Bloop-a-loo

Okay finally I get to the last episode that has been played in Canada - iBloop2.
It is #6 of Season 5.  The two episodes that follow it are iStill Psycho (see previous review) and iBalls (see previous review).

Synopsis:

This is the blooper show!  The puppet from Victorious - Rex - appears as the host.

Apparently he is really played by Christopher Cane.  So Christopher is running a talk show kind of show and trying to get every cast member to hold his brand name salsa and say "Christopher Cane Salsa rocks my mouth".  So first up is Jennette.  Looking awesome in a nice blue dress, Jennette gets hassled by the puppet and then we see her bloopers.

Nathan appears next and the puppet pretends he has never heard of Nathan and then after watching his bloopers gets him carried off by security.  Next up is Jerry, who apparently is dating Christopher's ex Stephanie.  Then Noah, who is worshiped by Christopher.  Boogie has no bloopers but makes an appearance and finally Miranda who is told she used to date Johnny Depp and he dumped her.

Awesomeness:
The bloopers of course!  I wish the entire SHOW was bloopers and cast interviews (without the puppet).  I think one of the funniest bloopers is when Jennette spits out water and Nathan falls over laughing.  Also when Noah calls Jerry out for making him laugh, that's great too!

Downers:
There are a LOT of downers.  First I totally hated the puppet.  For two reasons:  1.  He's from Victorious and kept being snobby about how much better his show is than iCarly...which I didn't need.  2.  He took up WAY too much time.  This time could have been used to have the cast interview each other or show more bloopers!!!  Grrr.

Nathan's package consisted of some funny bits and then a huge montage of him yawning.  Now I know there are more funny bloopers of Nathan cause he's hilarious, but why show him yawning for 2 minutes. Poor guy.  The days the cast works they are at the studio by 6am usually and not gone til 8pm or so....give the guy a break!

Did I mention how annoying the puppet was?

For the puppet alone this show gets a 1/5, a 1 because they actually showed bloopers...but -4 because the puppet annoyed the crap out of me.  And I won't be watching Victorious because of that puppet!!!

iQ Review

Welcome back!  Now onto #5 of Season 5.  IQ.

Synopsis
Carly spies a "hot" guy at the Groovy Smoothie.  She snags a date with him and quickly figures out that he is crazy smart.  She tries to study up for her dates and attends an extremely LONG foreign film.  She even learns some Mandarin.  During a dinner date she cheats with her pear pods and notes on her arm and plate. But her date catches her and dumps her for being "dishonest".

SubPLOTS:  There are three running subplots.  #1 is T-Bo is kicked out of his apartment above the Groovy Smoothie.  Freddie's mom meanwhile loses a chunk of money on chickens that won't mate.  So to solve the problem Freddie and Sam dress up T-Bo and try to get Freddie's mom to rent T-Bo the guest room.  They succeed!  #2 Spencer gets an old safe from the junkyard and tries to crack it, then chainsaw it, then blow torch it and finally blows it up, to reveal another safe!  #3 Sam becomes obsessed with Carly's big fork and carries it everywhere, until she finds an even BIGGER fork.

Awesomeness:

Carly is hilarious in this episode.  I love when she gets ready for dates by wiggling herself all around and then flipping her hair.  Her learning Mandarin was also very funny.  Sam's fork issues were great!   And Spencer's tries at opening the safe were as usual hilarious.

Downers:

Okay first of all, the guy was NOT HOT.

I did not think he was worth Carly getting all excited about.  I found him SO irritating with his brainy talk.  I also can't figure out if that was an English accent or just snob?  I just did NOT like him, so thank goodness Carly was funny.  Cause non-hot dude just ruined this episode for me.  BUT to make you feel a little better, how about a picture of NATHAN..who IS HOT..with a PUPPY!!!

Second, Carly is NOT dumb.  She is a smart kid, so I don't like that her character gets dumbed down.  She also was dumbed down in an episode where she read Australia as Austria.  What???  I like that both female characters are smart in their own way, you don't need to dumb them down.

So for dumbing Carly down and NOT having a hot guy play the "hot" guy I give this episode 2/5.  Yes it was my least fave of the entire season.  Except we will get to the next one which seriously ranks as one of my lowest too.

iLove You Review

Season 5 continues with iLove You!  Which happened to be on recently on Canadian TV.

Synopsis:
Sam and Freddie are still dating but don't seem to do anything together other than go on dates and make out.  Carly insists that if they are going out they need to do things the other likes.  Freddie invites Sam to his Training Bros. (WA HA HA) night where he and his friends play with model trains.  Sam calls them all losers and then in an epic scene makes the trains collide!  Fig nooders show up again, they are also in the episode where Spencer and Chuck patrol the hallways.  Anyway, Freddie then gets kicked out of the Training Bros.  Sam invites him to visit her uncle and cousin in prison.  While there she makes Freddie smuggle two large hams in his pants.  They get caught and S and F end up fighting.  In the end they do apologize but start to realize that maybe all they have between them is make out lust.  In a scene that crushes Seddie fan hearts worldwide, Freddie and Sam decide to break up and just be friends.  But before they officially do they decide to make out til midnight.

SUBPLOT:  Spencer dates his former babysitter who reverts to treating him like he's 10.  Spencer does what she says and wears footsie pyjamas.  In the end Carly tells them their relationship is NOT normal and they break up too.

Tiny subplot:  Gibby gets a duck and tries to make it do tricks, but it's not willing.  The duck also watches a scary movie with Gibby later.

Awesomeness:

The Training Bros....that is hilarious!  Sam does her vulcan squeezy on another person.  Sam making the trains collide is pretty damn funny.  At one point when the boys come back from getting the fig nooders Freddie launches into a side conversation about how stale they are.  I have no idea if this was ad libbed or not but it's funny.  Those pants they make Nathan wear to fit the hams in had to be HUGE.   Two cute Seddie moments:  Sam making strange noises against Freddie's face

and their eskimo kiss (nose kiss) at the training bros.
Carly was in all the stories just kinda floating around.  I loved it when she called Spencer a man child.  And when she told Gibby his duck had no talent.  She also admits to S and F "I don't have a bf what do I know?"  Exactly!  Cause this was all started by her unsolicited advice.
When Freddie reads the email from the Training Bros and he has to return his protective cup, Carly doesn't know what it is.  Freddie starts to tell her and then Sam says..NO she's not ready for that!  Carly then says in a small voice..."cup of what?"...WA HA HA.
Still pondering why Mrs. Benson needed Freddie to take her to the "lady doctor".
Oh one more awesome - when Freddie tells Sam he loves her and she says it back....that was an awwww moment.

Things I'd Fix:
This left me wondering about Sam and Freddie...was their relationship just based on old friendship and lust?  Cause that's seems to be what was left at the end.  Besides we need Sam to rag on Freddie and Freddie to have his forever crush on Carly..that's what makes the show hilarious anyway.
As I stated in the previous review, I don't feel the heat between S and F and I explained why.  I didn't in this episode either, even when they wanted to hang in the elevator til midnight.

Give Spencer a girlfriend!  That man has the weirdest relationships...but then again it's always funny!

PS:  isn't that the 2nd teacher Spencer has dated?  Although technically I guess she wasn't a teacher, an assistant to Principal Franklin.

I give this episode a 4/5 because there was not enough Carly being crazy!

iCan't Take it Review

Okay Canadian iCarly fan's I'm BACK!

I've been watching a lot of iCarly so I have to go over some episodes just to make sure I don't mess up!

So today's review is on the 3rd episode of season 5.

Synopsis:
Sam and Freddie are still dating but their love is interfering in people's lives.  Sam has started beating up more on Gibby because she doesn't have Freddie to beat up anymore.  In this episode she clocks him with a bag of sandwiches.  Carly is edited out of one of the FUNNIEST iCarly trailers ever!  The Adventures of Super Bra.  And then Sam and Freddie miss an iCarly taping because of their date.  Gibby gets back at Sam by telling Freddie's mom that F and S are dating...to her HORROR!  Freddie's mom tries to bribe Freddie to dump Sam with a bar of Palaydium.  But it doesn't work so Carly spills that Sam sabotaged Freddie's ap to NERD camp and Mrs. Benson uses the knowledge and tells Freddie.  Freddie almost breaks up with Sam but Carly forces him not to.  It all ends with a sweet kiss and Gibby singing a nice song.

SubPLOT:  Spencer is forced to bake bread after lying to Mrs. Benson while covering for Sam and Freddie.  He proceeds to be very bitter, burns the bread and eats yeast.

Awesomeness:

Man this episode had me from the beginning.  I love it when Sam says "lips please" to get a kiss from Freddie, I may try that sometimes!  Then as mentioned above SuperBra was HILARIOUS.  "Prepare for two cups of justice!".

Even my husband laughed at that (he likes watching the show too!).  Gibby and Mrs. Benson in the elevator being all secret and then Mrs. B screams...sooo funny.  I also enjoy when Mrs. Benson throws a fit and rips her shirt when Freddie won't except her bribe.

I could relate to Carly when S and F accuse her of being jealous and she makes those little..wa ...wa..wa sounds.  Carly wasn't jealous!  And finally the song that Gibby sings proves that all 4 of these actors have great singing voices.

Which reminds me..if you haven't downloaded "I'm Coming Home" from their second soundtrack, do it.  I am literally ADDICTED to it.  I love all 4 of them singing on it.

What would I fix?

For some reason I just can't see the chemistry between S and F.  Perhaps that is because I'm a die hard Creddie fan.  But I just know that Nathan and Jennette are good friends and it seems awkward for them to kiss.  Sometimes it's a weird little peck.  The best kiss is at the end because they go for it.  But it must be hard to kiss someone you've know for sooooo long!  If you've seen iSaved Your Life...the Carly/Freddie kisses are CRAZY.  They are all massively good.  I buy it..and I think it's because Miranda just throws herself into it.  She really goes for it every time and so does Nathan (which you can see during iKiss when he kisses Sam and she's not really putting much in).  Now I LOVE Jennette, I do, but I feel like she is very uncomfortable just letting it rip on those kisses.
So perhaps Nathan is right, it's best just to leave them all NOT in relationship with each other because it's awkward.
Speaking of kissing...I happen to LOVE whenever Spencer gets one..cause that boy goes for it.  I mean he is my age so he's had practice..but it's nice to see a relaxed moment.

I give this episode 5/5 because of SuperBRA!
*****

Now a little update on my own web searches.  Yesterday I came across a video that Nathan did with his real life gf Madisen.  I had no idea he had been in a music video so I watched.  Well #1 I love the song.  It's called Superman by Moi.  AND Nathan and Madisen are so damn cute to watch..they break my cold heart at the end too.  Good job!!

Next up - iLove You - where Seddie fans cry and weep.

iDate Sam and Freddie!

This is the 2nd episode of Season 5 and one of my FAVOURITES!

It has aired in Canada so I didn't have to sneak around to find it.

Synopsis

Sam and Freddie are now dating but they keep fighting and getting Carly to solve their problems.  Carly is okay with this at first but then gets really annoyed.  She finally ends up snapping and telling them to solve their own problems or stop dating.

Sub Plots:  There are two.  Gibby adopts a dog (Sir Licks-a-lot) and tries to make Carly be it's mom.  He feels that since Sam and Freddie are dating that he and Carly will spend more time together so why not co-parent a dog?  Carly refuses and in the end Gibby finally realizes he is a single parent.  The other sub plot is that Spencer grows a plot of grass in the loft.  He mows it and also picks up some skeevy girl who likes chicken.  At the end he puts a moon and stars on the ceiling and the moon ends up falling on him and Carly.

Awesomeness

Sam and Freddie's fighting is hilarious.  First they fight over the bees in a teacher's car, then the amount of a smoothie, then how crazy their moms are are finally at Pini's they fight over Sam's gross eating behaviours.

I happen to find it funny that Sam calls Freddie "Baby" all the time.  This also shows up when she has that boyfriend in season 1 or 2.  She calls him baby as well.

Spencer's skeevy girl scene is funny when he doesn't know who she is yet she's in the loft eating chicken.

Sir Licks-a-lot is SO cute!!!

The dude who keeps hitting on Carly in Pini's...funny!

The ultimate of funny is when Carly let's Sam and Freddie have it at Pini's.  She acts like Sam and Freddie and grosses them both out then runs off with their lasagnas.  Hysterical!

I also really like it when she tells Sam, "that's an insane amount of cheese, it embarrasses me".

Negatives

I don't have any.  Cause this is a 5/5 episode!!!

Help me out here

Okay this post is going to show my age.

iCarly is filming it's new season and the first episode has One Direction on it...

Help me...WHO are they?  I get they are a band, possibly a boy band.  Have they played a song in Canada that I know?  I will have to ask my students about this one.  I feel very old.  (NEW NOTE:  I found out who they were and got addicted to their song...so here it is..with Freddie doing CAMERA)

If it was NKOTB I'd KNOW who they were!  Help me out here...throw me a bone :)

ILost My Mind AND the Rosie Show

Sorry about the lull!  I've decided to rewatch the entire 5th season of ICarly and start from there.

So Episode 1 was called "iLost my mind" and followed up on the 4th season cliffhanger of the Seddie kiss in the courtyard.

Synopsis

Sam checks herself into a mental hospital after kissing Freddie.  The gang tries to set her free but can't unless they have her mom come in.  Spencer dresses up like Pam Puckett and gets caught.  Since Sam can't leave, they film iCarly from the hospital and Freddie kisses Sam.

Subplot:  Jim Parsons guest stars as a mental patient who thinks he's from the future.

Positives

Since I have a tiny crush on Mr. Freddie (as I said he reminds me of my high school crushes), I was glad to see him with the chick action!  Loved his talking to the iCarly audience at the end and then just laying one on Sam.  Very cute!

Gibby's hilarious flying through the air and landing on the nurse.

Jim Parsons (Caleb) merging West Virgina and Virginia into one HUGE Virginia.

Negatives

Yes I actually have some.  I did not enjoy Jim Parsons in this role other than the above quote.  I found his character too much like Sheldon, especially the first line about some chemicals.  I love Jim Parsons so it's hard to write that!  But I wanted him to play something very opposite Sheldon.

That's my only negative.

Deja Vu

I love how the iCarly writers will throw in stuff from past episodes.  This one had Spencer dressing like a woman again and the crazy Seddie fan from iStart a Fan War was back yelling SEDDIE!

I give this episode a 4 out of 5 JUST cause Freddie gets action!

Now for my Rosie update.

So the cast appeared on the Rosie show on the Own network a few weeks back.  I was so excited because I've never found an interview with all of them in one show.

What I really liked was all the talk from the cast.  I really wanted MORE of that.  What ended up happening AS USUAL, is that Rosie focussed on herself the entire episode.  Her daughter got to meet the cast and show us all that celeb kids get stuff other's don't.  THEN Rosie went on and on about this performing arts school they were filming at that she helped create.  The most annoying parts were when the cast was asked questions and ROSIE would comment as if she was being interviewed too.

NO ONE CARES ROSIE!!!  I just wanted to hear about the cast, not about when you became a star and what that is like for you.  That was majorly annoying.

I also did not like having the performing arts kids ask questions because they just don't ask good ones to be honest.  Now put that cast on Ellen..that's what I want to see!  She'd ask some great questions!
Oh and Rosie's kid was the one with the mic walking all over the place.  Lucky celeb kid.

So I had a lot of negatives.  Rosie also got a lot WRONG.  She said their season was premiering...but iMet the first lady was not the 1st episode of the season.  Also she referenced OLD OLD iCarly stuff like the first kiss between Freddie and Sam.  I was like...get with the NOW lady.

Anyway, next time iCarly cast, go on Ellen.  Rosie did not interview you well and you were forced to listen to her stories about herself AND then hear the kids sing the theme song, twice.  Yikes.

Run iCarly's run.
